Meet Your National Alumni President
The Honorable Julian Mann, III serves as Cumberland’s National Alumni Association President for the term 2010 – 2012. He graduated from the Cumberland School of Law in 1974 and currently is North Carolina’s Chief Administrative Law Judge. Chief Justice James G. Exum, Jr first appointed Judge Mann to his initial term of office in 1989. He has since been reappointed by three other Chief Justices and is now serving in his sixth term under appointment of Chief Justice Sarah Parker. From 1974 to 1989 he engaged in the private practice of law, concentrating in administrative law litigation and representing the architectural and veterinary medical professional licensing boards. Since 1978 he has served as a member of the adjunct faculty at North Carolina State University, where he taught courses in Administrative Law, Business Law, Regulatory Law, and Architectural Law. He has authored numerous articles and frequently lectures at CLE conferences. For years Judge Mann has studied Cumberland’s rich legal history and the contributions that Cumberland graduates have made to the judiciary. He is confident that future historians will see just how much the present students, faculty, and alumni will have enhanced these traditions.
