COMPLIMENTARY CONTINUING LEGAL EDUCATION

9:00 – 10:00 a.m., Ethical Issues in the Use of Social Media by Lawyers

10:00 – 11:00 a.m., Ethical Dilemmas for Litigators During Discovery and Trial

The panel will respond to ethical dilemmas presented in video-recorded vignettes focusing on best practices under the ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct and the American College of Trial Lawyers’ Code of Pre-trial Conduct. Panelists are Fellows of the American College of Trial Lawyers: Robert P. MacKenzie, III, Starnes Davis Florie LLP, Birmingham, Ala.; Gary J. Rickner ’74, Ward and Smith, P.A., Raleigh, N.C.; other panelists TBA

CLE REGISTRATION IS NECESSARY 

Both sessions will take place in the John L. Carroll Moot Courtroom. Tour Robinson Hall, browse Lucille Stewart Beeson Law Library and enjoy beautiful Brewer Plaza. Several student organizations will have offices open to welcome your return. Lunch will be served on the plaza. Conclude your lunch by purchasing a cool treat from Steel City Pops.

2:30pm - Watch the final rounds of the Donworth Moot Court Competition!

The Donworth is the First Year Law Students’ moot court competition where they will argue their Lawyering and Legal Reasoning problems.  The students will make legal arguments based on their  appellate briefs in front of a mock appellate court.  All alumni, prospective students, family, and friends are welcome to watch.
