Prior to joining the Cumberland faculty, Professor Miller practiced law with Maynard, Cooper & Gale, P.C., where she was a member of the firm's Labor and Employment and White Collar Criminal Defense practice groups. Professor Miller also practiced law with the Huntsville-based firm, Wilmer & Lee, P.A., where she practiced labor and employment law.
At both firms, Professor Miller represented corporations and other business entities in all types of employment disputes, including federal discrimination cases, collective actions under the FLSA, class actions under Title VII and the ADEA, sexual harassment cases, claims under the FMLA, wage and hour violations, and state law workers' compensation claims and retaliatory discharge suits. She has considerable experience representing public and private schools in discrimination cases brought by tenured and non-tenured personnel, and discrimination claims brought by students. Professor Miller also has experience conducting internal investigations of executives accused of criminal conduct, and representing individual and corporate defendants in white collar criminal proceedings.
Professor Miller is an honors graduate of both Cumberland School of Law, where she served as a member of the American Journal of Trial Advocacy, and Samford University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Political Science.
