Called to the Bar
Mr. Jones, along with Professor Don Cochran of our faculty, prosecuted the persons accused of the Sixteenth Street Baptist Church bombing on September 15, 1963 some 40 years after the bombing occurred. The bombing resulted in the deaths of four young girls. The prosecution of those bombers will be the subject of Mr. Jones’ talk. More information about Doug Jones may be found here. |
On September 11, 2008, Doug Jones ’77 will be the first of the Called to the Bar speakers for the 2008-09 academic year. Mr. Jones is a former United States Attorney for the Middle District of Alabama and is currently a partner with the Whatley Drake & Kallas firm in Birmingham where he specializes in complex class action litigation and the defense of persons charged with crimes in high profile cases.
