Called to the Bar

On September 8, 2010 at noon in the Moot Court Room, Doug Jones '79 will be the first of the Called to the Bar speakers for the 2010-11 academic year. He is a former United States Attorney for the Northern District of Alabama and is currently with the Haskell Slaughter Young & Rediker, LLC firm in Birmingham where he represents individual, institutional and corporate clients in complex civil and criminal litigation.

Mr. Jones, along with Professor Don Cochran of our faculty, prosecuted the persons accused of the Sixteenth Street Baptist Church bombing on September 15, 1963 some 40 years after the bombing occurred. The bombing resulted in the deaths of four young girls. The prosecution of those bombers will be the subject of Mr. Jones' talk.
