Cordell Hull Speakers Forum Presents Melanie Phillips
In 1996, Ms. Phillips was awarded the Orwell Prize for Journalism which is the preeminent British prize for political writing. In 2006, she published a book entitled “Londonistan” which became a best seller in the U.S. and Britain. Her current book is entitled “The World Turned Upside Down: The Global Battle over God, Truth and Power.” Her lecture will focus on transnational issues like the rise of transnational jurisdiction and the use of human rights law as a weapon of secularization. The purpose of the Cordell Hull Speakers Forum at the Cumberland School of Law is to provide a wide variety of speakers and viewpoints on important issues. The next Cordell Hull speaker will be Melanie Phillips. Ms. Phillips is a British journalist and author who is best known for her controversial newspaper columns on political and social issues which currently appear in the Daily Mail. Her husband Jeremy Rozenberg, is a well known lawyer and journalist who is a regular contributor to The Guardian.
