Cordell Hull Speakers Forum Presents Melanie Phillips
The purpose of the Cordell Hull Speakers Forum at the Cumberland School of Law is to provide a wide variety of speakers and viewpoints on important issues. The next Cordell Hull speaker will be Melanie Phillips. Ms. Phillips is a British journalist and author who is best known for her controversial newspaper columns on political and social issues which currently appear in the Daily Mail. Her husband Jeremy Rozenberg, is a well known lawyer and journalist who is a regular contributor to The Guardian.
In 1996, Ms. Phillips was awarded the Orwell Prize for Journalism which is the preeminent British prize for political writing. In 2006, she published a book entitled “Londonistan” which became a best seller in the U.S. and Britain. Her current book is entitled “The World Turned Upside Down: The Global Battle over God, Truth and Power.”
Her lecture will focus on transnational issues like the rise of transnational jurisdiction and the use of human rights law as a weapon of secularization. For more information about the speaker, visit her website, www.melaniephillips.com.
